The Academic Salon of Shantou University Business School had its inaugural meeting with great success on October 29, 2022, in the Academic House (AH). The meeting invited the academic team of the journal "Contemporary Finance & Economics", which is led by Executive Vice President Zhanxiang Wang. Professor Qiang Liang Dean of Business School，Executive Vice President Zhanxiang Wang, Vice President Yanxin Shi, Editor Lin Wei, Professor Quanlin Zhou, Professor Changnan Wu, Associate Researcher Junjie Wang，Assistant Researcher Fang Wu，as well as more than thirty teachers and postgraduates from Business School, participated in the meeting. Associate Professor of Business School Gongxing Guo chaired the meeting.
The morning session began with a welcome address and an introduction to guests conducted by Professor Qiang Liang, Dean of Business School. On behalf of the Business School, Dean Liang extended a warm welcome and sincere greeting to the attending guests. Dean Liang stated that this was the first meeting of the new project Academic Salon. With this opportunity, it is expected to enhance academic exchanges and cooperation between the school and journal, creating a new interactive model of "Academy+Journal", and promote the academic research and achievements output of the school to a higher level.

After the welcome ceremony, the President of the journal, Zhanxiang Wang delivered a speech titled "Research on the Economic Risks of Deindustrialization in Developing Countries". President Wang engaged in a lively interaction and discussion with the participants on this topic, which won warm applause from the participants. Then, Professor Changnan Wu gave instructions on "Innovation in Thesis Selection". Citing several cases, Professor Wu vividly demonstrated how an excellent dissertation requires theoretical justification, academic regulation, and realistic implementation, pointing out the direction for the choice of topic and innovation of the dissertation for the teachers and students present. All participants are benefited a lot from the speech.

The afternoon session started with the topic instruction on "How to polish an excellent academic paper" by Associate Researcher of the journal, Junjie Wang. Combining a large number of details from research papers, Professor. Wang Junjie gave meticulous and professional advice on how to polish an excellent academic paper from the perspective of editorial office and reviewer. His speech arouses wide resonance and praise.

After that, faculty and students from Business School made their thesis presentations and received feedback from the journal’s academic team. The paper presentations were divided into seven groups. Seven experts made professional comments around theoretical contribution, logical derivation, writing paradigm, and submission requirements. They put forward a series of constructive suggestions, which provided valuable ideas for further improvement of the thesis. The experts from the academic team engaged in a lively interaction and discussion with the participants, which drew warm applause from all participants.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Secretary Bingtian Su delivered a speech. Introduction to the journal "Contemporary Finance and Economics”
Established in 1980, "Contemporary Finance and Economics” is the first "Top 100 Social Sciences" journal in 2013, the third National Journal Award of 100 key journals, the National University Social Sciences Journal, the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) source journal, the core journal of Chinese humanities and social sciences, the national Chinese core journal, RCCSE A+ Chinese authoritative academic journals, East China Outstanding Journal, China Economic Core Journals, and China Journal Matrix Double effect Journal.
